7.5/10

Melodic dreaminess, timeless pop sensibilities, and soft soulful vocals saturate this record that would perfectly compliment any summer soundtrack.

April in Fort Wayne can mean a great many things. Sunshine? Maybe. Rainstorms? Probably. Frost? Why not. May comes rolling around and we'd hope to shake off all the weather uncertainties and embrace the sunshine and bright days of summer ahead. This year is off to a rocky start BUT that certainly doesn't mean you can't start compiling fresh albums for a new summer mix. And there's no better way to kick it off than with the debut record Garden View from Indiana band Hales Corner. What started off as two individuals (Caleb Adams and Wesley Cook) making projects of their own soon became a wonderful collaboration soaked it sunshine and haze.

There's a lot to love about this record. Vocals are soulful, soft and come with a hint of the best days of Paolo Nutini. The mood of the record hits from the top, there's a dreaminess that's abundant in every track which is always the sign of a perfectly working collaboration. But more importantly the classic pop sensibilities are genius, songs of this nature could be played on the radio in almost any decade in the past 60 years and draw attention. Tracks like "Josef K" and "If You Come Around" are pitch perfect and have melodies that will ingrain themselves in your head.

Make sure you snag a copy of this record today on their Bandcamp page and start your sunny season the right way.
